BIG ROCK WEEK · JUNE 11–20, 2027

Stay above the Big Rock weigh-in

The Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament is the biggest week of the year in Morehead City — an estimated 10,000 people come to town for it. Our second-story Lofts at Big Rock Landing look right over the scales, so you can watch the boats come in from your window and be downstairs for the action in seconds.

THE BEST SEAT IN TOWN

Why stay at the Lofts at Big Rock Landing

  • Overlook the weigh-in. The lofts are on the second story directly above Big Rock Landing, where every blue marlin is weighed. No fighting the crowd for a view.
  • Walk to everything. The tournament event tent, the Big Rock Store and headquarters on Evans Street, and waterfront restaurants like Red Fish Grill and Catch 109 are steps away — park once and leave the car for the week.
  • Bring the whole crew. Each of our four lofts sleeps 2. Book all four and your team, family or sponsor group (up to 8 guests) stays together above the landing.
  • Settle in for the week. Fully equipped kitchens, fast Wi-Fi, smart TVs and air conditioning — everything you need for a full tournament week.

See each loft: Loft 1 · Loft 2 · Loft 3 · Loft 4. If the lofts are booked, our Bask 227 and Bask 228 condos are a short walk away and sleep 4.

THE TOURNAMENT

About the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament

For nearly seven decades, the Big Rock has been one of the most prestigious billfish tournaments on the East Coast. Boats run offshore from Morehead City to the Gulf Stream each morning chasing blue marlin, and the town fills with crews, families and spectators for the weigh-ins every afternoon.

2026 was a record year. The 68th tournament drew 278 boats, and Marlin Fever weighed a 919.9-pound blue marlin — the largest in Big Rock history — on the way to a $6.5 million payout from a total purse of more than $9 million.

It’s for a good cause, too. The Big Rock Foundation, the tournament’s charitable arm, has given nearly $14 million to the community since 1986.

How the week works

  • Fishing days: Monday through Saturday, lines in at 9 am and out at 3 pm. Each boat fishes four of the six days.
  • Weigh-ins: Daily at Big Rock Landing, 710 Evans Street, from about 4 pm to 7 pm (around 3 pm on the final Saturday). Blue marlin usually reach the docks two to three hours after they’re caught.
  • Free to watch: Spectators of all ages are welcome at the weigh-ins. You can also follow along live on Big Rock TV, YouTube and Facebook.

TIPS FROM LOCALS

Planning your Big Rock stay

  • Book early. Downtown lodging fills months ahead for Big Rock week, and the lofts above the landing go first.
  • Stay the whole week. The excitement builds day by day — the biggest fish often come in late in the week, and the final Saturday weigh-in is the main event.
  • Time your afternoon. Weigh-ins start around 4 pm; when the radio says a blue marlin is headed in, you have a couple of hours before it reaches the scales.
  • Make dinner reservations. Restaurants are packed all week. Reserve at Mar ahead of time, and see our downtown dining guide.
