Planning a coastal wedding without the beach-wedding logistics? The Post, in the heart of downtown Morehead City, offers a historic setting, room for your guests and lodging for the wedding party just down the street.
A building with a story
The Post sits at 706 Arendell Street, in a building that was once Morehead City’s post office and later served for many years as City Hall. When the town built its new municipal building down the street, Kostas Hospitality transformed the space into an event venue, keeping its historic character.
What The Post hosts
The Post holds up to 140 guests and hosts:
- Weddings and receptions
- Rehearsal dinners
- Corporate parties and meetings
- Baby and bridal showers
- Social parties and ticketed events
Why downtown works for weddings
- Everything is walkable. Guests can walk from their lodging to the venue, to dinner and to the waterfront for photos.
- Built-in weekend activities. Out-of-town guests can fill the weekend with boat tours, beach time across the bridge and waterfront dining.
- Waterfront photos. The Shepard Street waterfront and Bogue Sound sunsets are just a few blocks away.
Lodging for your wedding party
When you book an event at The Post, your guests receive 25% off the Lofts at Big Rock Landing and 15% off our Bask condos, all a short walk from the venue. It’s an easy way to keep your wedding party together downtown.
Planning tips
- Book early for spring and fall. They’re the most popular wedding seasons on the coast.
- Avoid big event weeks like Big Rock in June or the Seafood Festival in October, unless you want the excitement (and fuller restaurants).
- Reserve guest lodging when you book the venue to lock in the discount.
