Most downtown tournaments, including the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament and the Morehead City Open King Mackerel Tournament, weigh in at Big Rock Landing on Evans Street. Some events use the Jaycee Park waterfront on Shepard Street.

Where can I dock my boat downtown?

The Town of Morehead City rents transient slips at the Jaycee Park docks, 807 Shepard St, directly across from the Bask building. Reserve through Dockwa or call the dockmaster at 252-725-5025.

Can I check in early or check out late on tournament days?

On tournament dates we offer early check-in and late checkout when the calendar allows. Ask when you book.

Stay in our downtown condos and lofts, tie up at the town docks across the street from Bask, and walk to the scales, the captains’ meetings and dinner. Walk to the weigh-in. Most downtown tournaments weigh in at Big Rock Landing on Evans Street. Our four Lofts at Big Rock Landing sit on the second story directly above the scales.
Dock across the street. The Town of Morehead City’s public transient docks at Jaycee Park (807 Shepard St) are directly in front of the Bask building. Slips are rented through the town and reserved on Dockwa; call the dockmaster at 252-725-5025 to check availability during tournaments. More in our boat slips guide.
Captains’ meetings and dinner nearby. Waterfront restaurants like Southern Salt, Red Fish Grill, Catch 109 and Mar are a short walk away. Southern Salt hosts the Morehead City Open King Mackerel Tournament’s captains’ meeting.
Early check-in and late checkout. On tournament dates we offer early check-in and late checkout when the calendar allows, so you’re not packing up on weigh-in day.

Planning your tournament stay

Book early for June and October. Big Rock week and the fall king mackerel tournaments fill downtown lodging fast.
Reserve your slip separately. The town docks are booked through the town, not through us. Reserve on Dockwa or call the dockmaster as soon as you have your dates.
Watch the weigh-ins even if you’re not fishing. Big Rock Landing weigh-ins are free and open to the public, and the waterfront fills up when the boats come in.
Plan for weather days. Most tournaments have alternate fishing days. Let us know and we’ll help with flexible dates when the calendar allows.
